GREEN BRIDGE FORUM 2015 took place in Jurmala on the 17th April.

Within the Green Bridge Forum 2015 framework a memorandum on further cooperation in the field of clean technologies was signed, the parties agreed on the exchange of information and implementation of further plans was held in Jurmala on April 17.

The memorandum was signed by the the Green Bridge Forum chairman Andrey Pumpurs and various international organizations representatives, including the Norwegian Renewable Energy Cluster and the Environment of Oslo, Kyrgyzstan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Sustainable Consumers in Kazakhstan Association, the Clean Denmark Cluster, Latvia “CLEANTECH Latvia” Technologies, corporate development “CSR Central Asia” agency, Agency for Support of Development Processes Nau, Tajikistan.

The parties’ mutual cooperation agreement through information exchange on the partners actions in the Europe – Central Asia context, in order to identify the best ways and tools for cooperation. Additionally the parties plan to assess the opportunities for implementing common events.

Green Bridge Forum 2015 was opened by Alda Ozola, The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development’s deputy State Secretary. Technological presentations were held throughout the day, during five sessions water supply and sewage treatment, contaminated soil cleaning, forestry, energy efficiency, international clean technology clusters cooperation and waste management were discussed on the 17th of April.
Presentations were made by representatives of various enterprises and non-governmental organizations, experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Denmark, Finland and Norway also expressed their views on the industry. The Green Bridge Forum 2015 was opened on the 15th of April with the participation of: Director General for the Environment of the European Commission Carl Falkenberg, the Minister of Environment and Regional Development Kaspars Gerhards, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary of State Andrei Pildegović, including the high-level politicians from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan , Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The forum opening was moderated by the former EU Energy and Development Commissioner Andris Piebalgs.

The second forum day was opened by the Jurmala Gatis Truksnis mayor, but through the day’s course his participation in the new post was reinforced by the special European Union representative in Central Asia Peter Burian. On the regional cooperation day, representatives of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Italy and Romania also made presentations.
The Green Bridge Forum 2015’s goal is to strengthen cooperation between the EU and Central Asian countries in the environment technologies field. During the forum, senior officials, politicians, leading innovators, environment ministers, industry experts and business representatives will discuss the importance of green technologies in these countries. One of the main forum tasks is to promote environmental management.
The Green Bridge Forum was held from the 15th to the 18th of April within the Latvia’s chairmanship of the Council of the European Union’s framework, conference organizers: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Environment, the European Commission, the Jurmala City Council and the Green Bridge Forum.
The event is also supported by «Acqua seen», «CLEANTECH Latvia» and its partners, Cluster of Industrial Energy Efficiency, Dilers», Institute for Environment Solutions, Kazakhstan Association of Environmental Users for Sustainable Development KAPUR, «Karme Filtrs», «Lattelecom», «Vega 1», «LADEC» (Finland).
