The 9th Annual Hydrobiological Seminar on “Bioindication in Environmental Monitoring: Methodology, Problems, Practice” was held in «KAPE» LLP

The 9th annual hydrobiological seminar was held at «KAPE» LLP on April 24, 2015. The theme of this year’s seminar: “Bioindication in ecological monitoring: methodology, problems, practice”.
This year, the seminar was attended by the RSE «Institute of Zoology» (Almaty) staff, «Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Fisheries» LLP (Almaty), Institute of Forensic Expertise (Almaty), RSE «Kazgidromet» (Ust-Kamenogorsk), students and Undergraduates of the Kazakh National University. Al-Farabi (Almaty) and the hydrobiologists taking part in the work of KAPE on a contractual basis.

The main entomology department of the RSE «Institute of Zoology» scientific employee, Doctor of Biological Sciences, expressed her opinion on the methodological approaches and problems of assessing the ecological state of water bodies. Krupa E.G.

Young scientists have described the possibilities of using chironomids and molluscs in bioindication: Dr.Sc. Institute of Zoology Imentay A. and master student of KazNU Askarova A.
The saprobiological characteristics of the zooplankton water bodies of the Almaty region were the communication subject with the senior scientist. KazNIIRKh Troshina T.
The beetle usage possibilities in bioindication were described by Dr.Sc. Temreshev I., Senior Researcher Institute of Zoology
A sources overview and pollution character in the water bodies of Southern Kazakhstan was made by Dr.Sc. Institute of Zoology Aubakirova M.
«KAPE» LLP Employees Epova Yu. And Kokhno L. presented the work results on the assessment of the river’s ecological state. Yesil and its tributaries. Sapozhnikova I. and Sklyarova O. told about the collection of hydrobionts and the base images created and maintained in
KAPE and their role in ensuring the taxonomic definitions quality. The experience of applying various biotic indices to assess the ecological state of small mountain rivers was the Smirnova D report’s subject.
The seminar reports are planned to be published in a special issue of the journal «Ecology and Industry of Kazakhstan» devoted to water issues.
